History

In the computer industry since 1971 and an independent developer and video producer since 1994, Ralph E. Outcalt has considerable experience with a wide variety of computing systems and video production equipment. His education, experience and expertise cover an extraordinary range of knowledge and territory. Starting from an in-depth understanding of the hardware design of computers down to the internals of a microprocessor, all the way to the complexities of applications development in Main-Frame, Mini/Mid-Range and microcomputers. His work has taken him throughout the United States and other countries.

REO Visual is a Microsoft Business Partner utilizing the latest technologies available through Microsoft. Our server computers include Windows 2000 Server Advanced Server; Windows 2003 Server and SBS2003/Exchange 2003/SQL Server 2000.

Expertise

After starting with the internals of the computer and working in field service, regional and national tech support for several years, Mr. Outcalt moved into the Applications development arena. He used his unique understand of how computers work to develop powerful and efficient programs.

His background in field support also gave him an advantage not available to most applications developers: "A unique ability to communicate with everyone from the janitor to the CEO." according to one of his customers.

He used this expertise to teach others to use and enjoy computers. While Director of Computer Services at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC, he placed ten new computer science courses into their curriculum and taught them in evening classes.

Versatility

Integrating his interest in Photography, Theatre and recording technologies, he began working with desk top video as soon as it was available. Not until the advent of the PCI video capture card was he able to integrate all the components of science and art into the development of creative, informative and educational multi-media productions. Utilizing the latest in software and hardware he has produced videos which convey the message in an entertaining and powerful manner.
